Obituary

Greg Ray, 66, was born on March 19, 1960, to Don and Amelia Ray in Electra, Texas. He passed away peacefully on August 19, 2026, in Weinert, Texas, surrounded by his daughters.

Greg was a devoted “PiPi” to his five grandchildren, Carsyn, Cutter, and Owen Campbell of Goldthwaite, Texas, and Wylder and Landree Hager of Weinert, Texas. His grandchildren held a special place in his heart, and being their PiPi was one of the roles he treasured most.

Greg spent his life doing what he knew and loved—working with horses. He spent many years starting and training horses for ranches and individuals, earning the respect of those who knew his ability, patience, and understanding with horses. His work with horses was not simply a job; it was an important part of who he was and the life he built.

Greg is survived by his mother, Amelia Ray; his sister, K’Anne Fletcher and her husband, Curtis, of Snyder, Texas; his daughters, Summer Campbell and her husband, Clark, of Goldthwaite, Texas, and Kristen Hager and her husband, Eric, of Weinert, Texas; and his five grandchildren, Carsyn, Cutter, Owen, Wylder, and Landree. He was preceded in death by his father, Don Ray.

Greg will be remembered most by those who loved him for the life he lived, the horses he trained, and the family who surrounded him. His daughters were by his side at the end, just as his grandchildren and family had remained an important part of his life.

In keeping with Greg’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. His family invites those who knew Greg to remember him in their own way and to carry forward the memories of the man, father, PiPi, and horseman he was. Donations in Greg’s name to Hospice of the Big Country in Abilene, Tx or the American Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.
