Elva Dene Corley, 101, of Burleson, TX, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 26, 2026. She was born August 27, 1925 to Thomas and Pearl Greenwood in Rochester, TX., She grew up in Rochester until moving to Ft. Worth in the early 50's. She married D.A. Corley on August 4, 1944 and was married for 59 years and 11 months. They moved to Burleson in 1974 where she lived for the remainder of her life. 

After her mothers passing when she was only two years old, she was devoted to her father, Buck Greenwood. She loved to ride on the tractor with him while he was farming.  She loved working in her yard, her St. Augustine grass was like a carpet and her roses were beautiful. She always wore a bonnet while working outside and tried to be completely covered by the sun. She also took pride in keeping her house immaculate. She love to bake and always had something sweet to eat. Her pie crust was perfect, however it was a secret recipe.

   Dene was preceded in death by her husband D.A. Corley;  father Thomas (Buck) Greenwood; mother Pearl Jewel (Strickland) Greenwood; step mother Lola Moore; sisters Beulah McCubbins and Fern Dunlap; brothers JW Greenwood, RW Greenwood, and Tommy Greenwood. Left to cherish her memory are her sons Larry Corley and wife Lalia and Jerry Corley all of Burleson; grandchildren Lisa Parks and husband Dan of Claude, TX, Darrell Corley of Lubbock, TX, Cody Corley of Dallas, TX, Deena Corley of FT. Worth, TX, Jesse Corley of Ft. Worth, TX, and Thomas Ingle and wife Janet of Murfreesboro, TN; great grandchildren Coral Parks Ivins and husband Logan and Lee Corley; and  several great great and great great great grandchildren. Also, many nieces and nephews who visited her often and she was very fond of. 

A visitation will be held from 10-11 AM, Thursday, October 1st at McCauley-Smith Funeral Home (130 N Birch Ave.) with a graveside following in the Rochester Cemetery under the direction of McCauley-Smith Funeral Home in Munday.
